University’s Impact on Arkansas Economy $1.2 Billion

The economic impact of the University of Arkansas on state and local economies has grown from $725 million in 2009 to $1.2 billion in 2014.

That figure comes from a report prepared by researchers in Walton College’s Center for Business and Economic Research.

“Perhaps the most impressive finding is the return-on-investment that Arkansas taxpayers get from the state’s investment,” said Kathy Deck, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, and principal author of the study. “The state’s appropriation to the university in 2014 was $173.8 million. Arkansas is basically getting back almost $7 for every dollar the state legislature invests in the University of Arkansas.”

Experts Set to Discuss Economic Outlook at 21st Business Forecast Luncheon

Regional, national and international experts will discuss the economic outlook for Arkansas, the nation and the world at the 21st annual Business Forecast luncheon.

Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in the World Trade Center District in Rogers.
